This used to be the Coach House and Stables, but the roof and part of the front facade

have disappeared and the building is unsafe.

There were plans for it to be demolished and for the Sports Hall to be built on its site, but there is historical interest and those plans have been rejected by English Heritage.

The picture below is taken from the sales particulars of 1946.

The roof was in place, housing the tank for water from the hydraulic ram - see Woodland Project

The front facade was quite a bit taller - only a small part of each bull's-eye window remains.

Trustees of Rowdeford Charity Trust have decided that restoration of the building is to be the top priority for fundraising,in order to create a centre for visual and performing arts.

This is an artist's impression of the restored building.

It is to be a performing arts centre with facilities for:

* enhancement of expressive communication skills

* dance therapy - of particular value for those with autism

* stimulation and promotion of sensory awareness and development

* music, art and drama therapy and regular 'Artist in Residence' programmes

We need your help with ideas for fundraising and

introductions to major grant-making trusts.

Many people would ask why a state school should need the support of a charity, but Wiltshire LEA has put a lot of money into

improvements.  There is now a purpose-built centre of classrooms for pupils with autism and (with the help of a lottery grant) a

Sports Hall.  Our work supplements that investment to get the most out of the superb setting of a listed Georgian building with

20 acres of woodland and parkland.  We are a national charity and this Centre will be for the use of any 'special needs' group.

Our architect has drawn up a master plan for the site and you can print a copy after clicking here
