This used to be the Coach House and Stables, but the roof and part of the front facade

have disappeared and the building is unsafe.

This picture was taken before the building was boarded up for safety reasons

The picture below is taken from the sales particulars of 1946.

The roof was in place, housing the tank for water from the hydraulic ram - see Woodland Project

The front facade was quite a bit taller - only a small part of each bull's-eye window remains.

Restoration of the building has now started and will be a music, dance and art therapy centre for the children of Rowdeford School. The facility will be available for other groups especially those with disabilities.

Scaffolding has at last been removed and the building already looks quite staggering!

This is an artist's impression of the restored building.

It is to be a performing arts centre with facilities for:

* enhancement of expressive communication skills

* dance therapy - of particular value for those with autism

* stimulation and promotion of sensory awareness and development

* music, art and drama therapy and regular 'Artist in Residence' programmes

We need your help with ideas for fundraising and

introductions to major grant-making trusts.

Many people would ask why a state school should need the support of a charity, but Wiltshire LEA has put a lot of money into

improvements.  There is now a purpose-built centre of classrooms for pupils with autism and (with the help of a lottery grant) a

Sports Hall.  Our work supplements that investment to get the most out of the superb setting of a listed Georgian building with

20 acres of woodland and parkland.  We are a national charity and this Centre will be for the use of any 'special needs' group.

Our architect has drawn up a master plan for the site and you can print a copy after clicking here
