| MAJOR ACHIEVEMENT: Tenders were put out in accordance with an approved Schedule of Repairs and the successful tender was for £8,183 in January 2003. We then received the exciting news of a grant of £4,000 from Wiltshire Historic Buildings Trust. Great news - another £2,000 received from The Worshipful Company of Grocers and Welcome to Wessex proposed to make us the major beneficiary of a fundraising event last autumn. The latter achieved £1,750 for the project and we received donations from many people who were unable to attend. Gift Aid provided a further boost, but we had to accept an increase in the tender to allow for steps with
handrails to comply with current Health & Safety regulations. Wiltshire Historic Buildings Trust responded handsomely by increasing
the £4,000 grant to 50% of the cost of restoration, up to a £5,750
maximum.

The project was completed at a total cost of £11,446.09 and the official opening was on 15th September 2006. Handed over to Rowdeford School, it is now used by teachers to prepare lessons and provides an ideal quiet setting for that purpose. |
