EVENTS

Events are organised to raise funds, to raise awareness of the projects that the charity is supporting and for everyone to have the best possible fun.  Funds are currently being raised towards the creation of a Vocational Centre based on the derelict and dangerous remains of the old kennels in the grounds of Rowdeford School.  The aim is for this project to provide a better future for children with special needs by providing them with the opportunity to undertake vocational training that could lead them towards a more independent life.

winter wonderland Atlantic Crossing - update
Leaves
10th December
2011

Thank you to everyone who supported Elizabeth and Bob Frearson’s epic journey across the Atlantic.  They  left Puerto Mogan, Gran Canaria on December 10th 2011 and arrived in one piece in English Harbour, Antigua on 3rd January 2012 anchoring (in the dark) at 2003 local time.  What is even more important is that £520 was raised towards the Vocational Training Project.  Huge thanks to all those who so kindly contributed and an especial thank you to Sara Hope-Hawkins who won the sweepstake but has kindly refused to accept her prize money.

winter wonderland A Flavour of France - update
Saturday
15th October
2011
What an evening!  It was a sell out!  We dined on coq au vin and tarte aux pommes and chilled to the soothing sounds of the Gaulois Brothers and had a lovely evening chatting to friends in the candlelit Bowden Hall.
This enjoyable evening made £1,600 so thanks to everyone who came along and supported the event.

winter wonderland Royal Parks Half Marathon - update
Sunday
9th October
2011

Adam Heath, Francesca and Philippa Edmonds and Emily Stoker leapt out of bed really early on Sunday 9th October 2011 and ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon.  The team all completed the run in fantastic  times ranging between 2 hours and 10 minutes (Adam) and 2 hours and 20 minutes (Francesca).  They raised an absolutely phenomenal sum of £1,540 in sponsorship.  Thanks too to Mark Wilkinson our Patron who kindly got the Charity the entries because he designed the winners trophy.

winter wonderland Great North Run Half Marathon - update
Sunday
18th September
2011
Maggie Moore ran the Great North Run half-marathon for us last year and the year before, each time collecting more than £1,000 for the Arts Centre project.
Amazingly, she plans to run again, on Sunday 18th September this year, and you just may glimpse her on BBC TV.
She does not expect to better her time over the gruelling course, but promises to finish.

winter wonderland Country Fair - Review
Sunday
11th September 2011
What a fantastic day we all had!  The Country Fair was marred by showers and the weather forecast kept people away but those 1,500 visitors who braved the elements had a wonderful time.  Never to be forgotten moments include: Ingrid Lancaster-Gaye herding sheep, a small boy holding a newly hatched chick for half an hour before he had to return it to its incubator, a Rowdefored pupil "driving" the combine harvester with an enormous grin on his face, another Rowdeford pupil joining the Major Wrecks for their incredibly ludicrous and hilarious display and the Bishops Cannings famers team who won the tug-of-war dressed in their everyday working boots against a team of semi-professionals with their special boots and waist belts.  Thanks go to all those local businesses who supported the event and especially Sainsbury's, Chippenham who are supporting the Trust as their Charity of the Year.
